Approved Roofing Material #1:

Dennis Schauls discussed roofing options for Taylor’s Ridge during the Annual Membership Meeting on 11/10/09 since some roofs are approaching the end of their useful lives. Some neighborhoods are now allowing composition roofing in addition to the traditional cedar shakes. This subject had been discussed at previous board meetings where it was decided to have the membership vote on allowing high-end composition roofing in our neighborhood. Dennis proposed to allow Presidential Triple Laminate shingles, adding to the two other alternate roofing materials that were discussed in 2008 (descriptions can be found below). The attendees were able to view color samples of this product. The attendees approved unanimously to allow Presidential Triple Laminate shingles as an alternative to cedar shakes for roof replacements. The following product colors were approved: aged bark, country gray, autumn blend, charcoal black and shadow gray. Approved Roofing Material #’s 2 & 3:
November, 2008
The Board has approved two alternate roofing materials that can be used instead of wood shingles. One is a slate type of material by Monier-Lifetile called Madera. It is very heavy. The 2nd type is shingles by DaVinci Roofscapes, New Cedar Blend, and are of a manmade material. These shingles are very light weight and come in different sizes.

GAF – Grand Canyon

The Board has approved one more alternate roofing material that can be used instead of wood shingles. We were brought a sample of the product and by all accounts it’s the same material and look of the Certainteed / Presidential TL. It looks, feels and is the same thickness as the Certainteed product and comes in the same colors.

Composite Shakes
The Board has approved one more alternate roofing material that can be used instead of wood shingles or asphalt shingles. These are composite shakes that have the appearance of cedar shakes. Contact the architecture committee chair for more information.
